Style Essentials- The Little Black Dress

I have already had the first #psl of the season, I’m ready for Fall.  Fall also brings New York Fashion Week (NYFW), the style hub for fashionistas that provides a guide for the next year’s fashion trends. I thought that while the latest trends are being displayed at NYFW, it would be fun to discuss style essentials. My first style essential, and perhaps my favorite, is the little black dress or LBD.

Many believe the LBD was created by Coco Chanel, but the exact developer of the design is up for debate. What we do know, is that a Chanel Black Dress was featured in a 1926 issue of Vogue and that classic look led to black dresses becoming a staple in modern fashion. Additionally, Audrey Hepburn wore a beautiful, and iconic, Givenchy black dress in the movie Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

Ever since then, black has been a go to color for work, cocktail, and formal attire. Black is slimming, incredibly chic, and a go to if you are unsure of what to wear to an event. The other great thing about black dresses is that you can find them at any price point and still look amazing.

I have linked some amazing black dresses on my ShopStyle Collective page. Do you like little black dresses? How many do you own?
